Department Overview:
Our dedicated Project Controls & Scheduling Team at RLB are responsible for overseeing projects through from the initial planning stages to completion & operation. Their main task oversee the development of the Project schedule ensuring schedules are built to a high level of quality and align to Client specifications, that the schedule is maintained at a high level of quality, to ensure a high level of predictability and communicated to project stakeholders to drive data based decisions to enable project success. We pride ourselves on the quality of our service to our clients and enjoy long term relationships with them.
We are a sector focused business actively operating and investing in Commercial, Residential, Education, Data Centres, Mixed Use, Infrastructure, Retail and Healthcare clients and projects. Our Planning Managers work closely with our clients, advising them on Project constraints, timelines and logic related to legal, procurement, design, construction, commissioning and risks/mitigations matters that arise during the project, aswell as detailed trend analysis during project execution.
Our European Project controls and scheduling team has grown considerably over the past few years and now has over 15 Project controls managers and Planners, and our staff retention rate is excellent due to our ongoing commitment to provide our staff with a rewarding and enjoyable career.
The Data Centre team has an enviable client base working with hyperscale information technology clients through to UK-based developers across the UK and EMEA. RLB prides itself on the volume of repeat work we receive from our clients, which shows our commitment to quality service and advice.
Overview of Role:
We are currently recruiting an Senior Project Planner with consultancy Data Centre experience to join a client focused team within the specified office to help develop and drive our Data Centre capability, working on high profile projects throughout the immediate region. This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual to join and strengthen our team. RLB’s Data Centre team works on wide range of projects including new build, fitout, refurbishment and capacity upgrades. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to take responsibility for providing all services relating to project planning on Data Centre project. There may also be opportunities to work throughout the wider European region within this role.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties:
- To lead and oversee the successful delivery of Data Centre projects (in conjunction with the support of Project Management Partners) with a view to securing repeat business.
- Detailed Audit of GC schedule’s to ensure schedules are logical, compliant and contains all project Scope
- Establish robust schedule reporting procedure to ensure streamlined data capture and analysis
- Interviewing Main Contractors, undertaking tender analysis and reporting to clients with recommendations related to schedule submissions.
- Regular reporting to clients and internal client teams.
- Undertaking schedule scenario analysis based on proposed client options
- Contract Administration (which requires a good understanding of building contracts).
- Implementation and management of a change control process.
- Understanding of testing and commissioning process and ability to audit commissioning process with input from the project team and align commissioning information into IMS integrated master schedules.
- To input into the Risk Management process and undertake Schedule Quantitative risk assessments to calculate project predictability.
- Onsite verification of work, ensure schedule forecasts are accurately reflected.
- To support in the management of the Data Centre Project management team including potential line management duties.
- To support and develop our Data Centre team working on new high profile Data Centre projects.
- To support and develop targeted marketing material, bid documents, capability statements and attend networking events relating to Data Centres.
- To support the Project Management Partners in developing a pipeline of Data Centre opportunities.
- To actively participate and support in the development of fee proposals and responses to RFPs.
- To participate in Business Development activities where required.
- To attend Client interviews as required securing new Clients.
- To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances.
- To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures.
- Comply with established procurement/commercial/contractual strategies.
- Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a Data Centre consultancy environment and demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.
- Qualifications – Degree level.
- Chartership – Professional (chartered) qualification (MCIOB, MRICS, MAPM, MIARB or equivalent)
- Technical – Understands technical aspects of project delivery from inception to post-completion and is able to identify and promote solutions. Can advise on contractual matters and construction sequencing and durations.
- Managerial – Ability to manage a project from inception to post completion with Partner support, obtaining positive written client feedback.
- Behaviours – Recognised as a positive, collaborator who shares knowledge freely and offers support to their peers and seniors. Recognised as a team player within a project environment with a strong willingness to learn.
- Experience – Lead Project Planner for Data Centre projects (Client, consultancy side or GC lead) (£40million +).
